Student Union

Thank you for taking the time to visit RealUni.com. We would be most grateful if you could read the information below. Many thanks.

THE REALUNI ALTERNATIVE PROSPECTUS

The RealUni Alternative Prospectus was created to help A-Level students understand more about the realities of student life at each institution. We wanted to provide more than stats and figures and wanted to answer the ultimate question - "what's it really like to study here".

Academic standards are well documented, but no other university guide allows students to publish full reviews of their course and institution. Without this feature, prospective students have little information about the people, the lifestyle or the culture at each institution.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US

RealUni is a voluntary organisation of students. We are properly broke, and have no money for advertising or promotion. We rely on goodwill to build the site and on word of mouth for sixth form students to learn about it.

Mucho Help No. 1 - Opinions for the Alternative Prospectus

In 5 weeks over the Easter holidays, RealUni collected 150 student opinions covering 50 universities. We took a brief pause for exams, but are back on a mission now. We do not have all universities covered and need more opinions from all universities.

If you could help us find students to write on the site, maybe from club committees, or from academic representatives, we would be really, really grateful. Please just e-mail your students, point them in the direction of RealUni and ask for a favour...

Mucho Help No. 2 - Official Information about the Student Union

We are currently altering the format of each University's profile page from the page format you see now (example), to a newer version that can contain more information and allows for much easier navigation.

Each university's profile will be able to hold:
  • Student Reviews
  • Information from the University (Admissions Department)
  • Information from the Students Union or Guild.
  • Forums and Message Boards about that Institution
  • plus other features...
The Student's Union or Guild is vital to shaping the atmosphere and ambience of each institution, and so we really want to know what you do for your students.

Information can be added under a variety of catagories, and once submitted can be edited by yourself at your convenience through our login system.

If you would like to request a login/password to add further information, please contact Peter Curtis, RealUni Founder at pete@realuni.com.

Mucho Help No. 3 - Invite us to your Uni

RealUni aims to visit as many universities as possible, such that we can get an idea what it is like and upload our first impressions to the website. It would be great if 2-3 of us could visit your university and attend one of your Union events.

We don't get that much time off to come visiting, but freshers week is always best for us if possible. If you would like to extend an open invitation, please contact Nick Melville at nick@realuni.com. We promise to be well behaved - after all we rely on our reputation to succeed.

Mucho Help No. 4 - Send us some Photos

RealUni gets fed up of reading sometimes, and often we just want to look through some pictures to get an idea of what your university is like. Send us any photo's you have and we'll plaster them all over the website. Any captions to give an idea of who/what/where is much appreciated (pls name the picture with the desired caption)

Many thanks for taking the time to visit RealUni and thank you in advance for your help in making this website bigger and better.

Please contact us for a chat or some further information if you need it.
